Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka was born in Minsk. The father of her Sergey (d. in 2019) was an ice hockey player. Aryna Sabalenka was born May 5, 1998 at Minsk Belarus. She has won 12 WTA titles in her career, including her Grand Slam of 2023 Australian Open. In her role as a specialist in doubles, she also has won both the US Open of 2019 as well as her first Australian Open of 2021 with Elise Mertens. Together with her fellow Belgian tennis player, she also took home her the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami in 2019 thus making an appearance in the Sunshine Double. The women's doubles had only four teams achieve this feat. In January of 2023 she surpassed her top ranking in singles. The 23rd day of August 2021, she rose to the second spot in the World rankings. However, in doubles she moved up to the top spot following her win at Melbourne on February of the following year. Dmitry Tursunov, a former Russian tennis player, was her coach her during the 2018 season until the end and part of this season in 2020. Dieter Kindlmann was the coach she had for a short period between August and September of 2020. Antonio Dubrov has been her coach from 2020. Her top idols are Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.
